Who is Mama Knows Bets?
Hi! I'm Hilary — a former corporate analyst turned sports data nerd. After getting laid off following maternity leave, I combined my analytics background with my love for sports and MKB was born. Now I'm chasing a toddler by day and crushing spreadsheets by night (and during nap time!).
What started as sharing spreadsheet snippets and props lists on X grew into an incredible community and eventually this full suite of tools. I don't consider myself a "capper" — I'm just a mom who really loves data! MKB is built on transparency, math, and the belief that quality analytics should be accessible to everyone. Every tool, every model, and every result is published openly so you can verify the edge for yourself.
Getting Started
How do I get started after subscribing?
After subscribing, you'll be redirected to your Dashboard. From there you can access all your tools and link your Discord account. You'll also receive a welcome email with step-by-step instructions.
How do I join the VIP Discord?
On your Dashboard, click the "Link Discord" button to connect your Discord account. This will automatically add you to the MKB VIP server with the correct role for your plan. Once you're in, head to the #welcome channel to set up your notification roles.
How do I switch or unlink my Discord account?
On your Dashboard, click the "Unlink" button next to your connected Discord username. This will remove you from the MKB Discord server. You can then click "Link Discord" to connect a different Discord account and rejoin the server with your new account.
Value Finders & Tools
What is a Value Finder and how does it work?
The Value Finders scan odds across multiple sportsbooks and compare them to a weighted sharp book average to identify +EV opportunities. When a retail book offers significantly better odds than the sharp market, that's an opportunity. Each play shows the best book, the odds, EV%, and a recommended unit size based on the Kelly Criterion. See our Value Finder how-to guide for a full walkthrough.
What is +EV betting?
+EV (positive expected value) betting means finding bets where the odds are better than the true probability. Over time, consistently taking +EV bets compounds into profit — even though individual bets lose regularly. It's a math-based approach, not picking winners. How often are the Value Finders updated?
The Value Finders update every 15 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes overnight. Opportunities appear and disappear as lines shift, so there's value to be found throughout the entire day.
What does the unit recommendation mean?
Unit recommendations are calculated using a fractional Kelly Criterion based on the edge and odds. 1 unit = 1% of your bankroll. A 0.5u recommendation means betting 0.5% of your bankroll on that opportunity. This sizing is optimized for the specific odds shown — if you're getting different odds, adjust accordingly. What sports do you cover?
NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB each have both Value Finders and Model Projection dashboards. Golf and WNBA are covered as Value Finders only. More sports and markets are being added regularly. Check out our Model Projections guide to learn how the projection dashboards work.
Can I use MKB tools for parlays?
Yes, but you need to resize your wager appropriately when parlaying. The unit recommendations on the Value Finders are sized for straight bets, so combining plays into a parlay requires adjusting your stake to account for the compounded risk. Expectations & Strategy
What results can I expect?
Realistic long-term ROI for +EV betting is 2-5% on money wagered. This compounds into meaningful profit over hundreds of bets, but short-term variance is high. You will have losing days, losing weeks, even losing months. The edge is real but thin — trust the process and the math, not individual outcomes. How do you track results?
We track results for both our Value Finders and projection models in dedicated profitability tracking dashboards. You can view results for each day, drill down into individual plays, and draw your own conclusions. Do I need a big bankroll to get started?
No. You can start with whatever you're comfortable losing — $50, $100, $500. The key is using proper unit sizing (1 unit = 1% of bankroll) and staying disciplined. A $100 bankroll means $1 units. Small and consistent beats big and reckless. See our Bankroll Basics guide for more.
What if I only have access to one or two books?
You can filter the Value Finders to only show opportunities at your books, and you'll still find +EV plays — just fewer of them. The key is proper execution: if the odds have moved from what's shown, recalculate whether it's still +EV at your price, and size down or skip if the edge is gone. More books = more opportunities, but even with limited access, consistently taking +EV bets at proper sizing will compound over time. See our analysis on proper bet sizing for more.
I'm brand new to sports betting. Is this for me?
MKB VIP is best suited for bettors who understand the basics and are ready to take a disciplined, math-based approach. Notifications
How do I get notified about new opportunities?
In the Discord, you can sign up for notification roles in the #welcome channel. Available notifications include Value Finder refreshes, model refreshes, and plays you want to follow. When new +EV opportunities hit, you'll get pinged in the appropriate channel.
Plans & Billing
What's the difference between All Access and Discord Only?
Discord Only gives you access to the MKB VIP Discord server with all notifications, discussion channels, and community. All Access includes everything in Discord Only plus full access to the Value Finders and Model Data dashboards on the website.
How do I upgrade or change my plan?
Visit your Dashboard and click "Manage Subscription" to open the Stripe customer portal. From there you can switch between plans (weekly/monthly, Discord Only/All Access), update payment info, or change your billing details. Changes are prorated automatically.
How do I cancel my membership?
Visit your Dashboard, click "Manage Subscription", then cancel from the Stripe portal. You won't be charged again and will retain access until your current billing period ends.
Can I get a refund?
Yes! Monthly plans include a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you're not satisfied within 14 days of your initial purchase, reach out for a full refund. This is a one-time courtesy offer. See our full Refund Policy for details.
